Complex images use alt text and may include aria-describedby, figcaption, or links to detailed descriptions.


Long description not referenced in short alt:

This complex image has a long description placed immediately below, but the short text alternative does not tell users where to find it.

Long description: Sales for October show Mary leading with 400 units. Mike follows with 389 units. Chris is third with 350 units.


(The long description is near the image, but the image's short alt text does not reference its location—for example, it could say “October sales chart for top three salespeople. Details follow.”)

Note: Impossible to implement, because you need human / AI to check both that a nearby long description exists and that the short alt text tells users where to find it.
